Ducati is ready to launch to long-anticipated Multistrada V4 adventure motorcycle on October 15. The new bike will come equipped with an innovative safety package and an estimated 175 hp power delivery.
The 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 has been spotted during some tests around the plant in the Borgo Panigale district of Bologna a couple of times and now the Italian brand is teasing on social media with some post indicating that a new V4 model is set to debut on October 15. Moreover, Ducati made a dedicated page of Project 1707, saying “The adaptation of V4 to a smaller bore achieves the objective of a weight reduction of 1.2 kg compared to the previous V2 generation.” Also, back in September 2019, Ducati CEO, Claudio Domenicali also confirmed in a tweet that a Multistrada V4 will be revealed no sooner than 2021. Taking all this into count, Ducati will upload another post on Thursday, October 1.

But let’s get back to the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4. The V4 engine will be tweaked most likely to deliver more low and mid-range torque while the power delivery could be between 150 and 175 hp. Nonetheless, the V4 engine is part of a new development program and not just a tweaked engine borrowed from the Panigale V4 superbike. Looking at the photos, a rear cylinder bank is clearly visible while the front part shows the two manifolds leading out of the cylinder head. As far as the displacement goes, Ducati could be working on that side to increase the displacement up to 1200cc.
Other new features we could expect from the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 is the side-mounted cooler to keep the adventure motorcycle as slim as possible. The frame could be all-new as we’ve seen that Ducati fitted a steel trellis rear frame bolted to the main frame which appears to be made from aluminium. Thus, we could see the V4 engine become a fully load-bearing component of the chassis.
The wheels on the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 will have 19-inch rims and to save some weight, the rear suspension strut is fitted directly, and the double-sided swingarm is made from aluminium.

The electronics package includes a radar system probably set for collision avoidance and automated distance control. The radar sensors could be fitted on the front and rear as part of the new safety package. The system should send out warnings to the rider if the vehicle in front is too close and if the car in the back is driving in the blind spot or rushing up quickly. This safety package is called ARAS which means Advanced Rider Assistance System.
Even though the 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4 will probably replace the current V2 powered Multistrada 1260 model, V2 models will most likely remain in Ducati’s future plans for developing new bikes. For the Ducatisti, all eyes on October 15 and we’re curious to see what price tag Ducati set for the new adventure motorcycle.
